What do you do when the wind is gusting at 45 mph; snow, rain, and sleet are battling to see who's boss; and the waves outside your front windows look like this? Plug in the fairy lights (thank your lucky stars that the power's back on), hum a merry tune, and bake.
Photos are by me, but the chocolate chip bars are by Mr. Magpie.
Think I'll keep him.
P.S. Thank you so much for all your get well wishes!
They're starting to work their magic.

Stormy weather!! We had much the same today -- but no waves and water (though some of those rain puddle were mighty deep!). Mr. Magpie is totally a KEEPER...they look incredibly delicious. Glad you are starting to perk up!! :)

Can Mr. Magpie pop over the pond to my house and bake me a batch, Gigi ? I'll make him very welcome. Maybe it's a bit too far to come. Keep safe and well with those weather conditions you two.At least you've got each other to keep you warm. XXXX
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful photos Gigi... "storm meets fireflies" should be the title. I'm sure those are reflections of the light bulb, so interesting! Mr magpie is a definite keeper~

Gigi,
ReplyDeleteHow romantic. Maybe the power will go out again. Got batteries? We need you to stay blog-connected, and report on the storm, and the next culinary treat.
Stay warm and safe,

Bravo, Mr. Magpie! My husband also does the cooking around here.
ReplyDeleteMy mum told me that Woodstock was actually on NPR news today for getting the most snow out of this storm. We were bracing here in Denver, but we got all of the frigid temps and very little snow this time around.
Your photos are gorgeous! OX
What it must be like to have those waves right outside your window....you live in a beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteAre those blondies? Yum. Definitely a keeper.

So glad you are feeling better, Gigi! Pretty sure it was those magic choc. chips and fairy lights did the trick :o) Fairy lights... not doesn't that word alone make a spirit feel better, if not the body?! A man who bakes...*sigh*... Your Mr.'s a keeper. ;o) Love these happy photos... Keep feeling better ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteit's been pretty windy & rainy here lately too, but we awoke this morning to beautiful fresh winter sunshine (just in time for our open studio - fingers crossed it will stay like this for the whole weekend)

ReplyDeletestay warm!
Our power just came back on, and it's 17º outside, so I think I will do exactly that!
ReplyDeleteAh, the perfect cure for weather, if weather needs curing.
ReplyDeleteWOW - WHAT AT STORM!
ReplyDeleteI would NOT like to be out in that wheater, but then it is great to have a cosy home and a good sofa to crawl up in and just look out through the window.
Good to hear that you feel a little better.
Take care, and try to enjoy that you can stay inside - even if you are sick.
Best post title of all time. I'm going to use that expression the next time we get weather. And Mr. Magpie is most certainly welcome to come over and make chocolate chip cookie bars in this house ANY old time.
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better, my dear. And thank you, *thank you* for the most thoughtful, flattering comment. Coming from a poet that is the highest order of praise. You made me blush! You are a dear friend indeed.
big hugs,
xo
Oh yum! I'm glad you received the package. Somehow I missed it when I read your blog of all the lovely goodies your received. You are a lucky girl. I had an inkling Pippi might appeal to you! Hope you are feeling much better.
ReplyDeleteLove and Hugs,
Nicolette
oh ok now I get it Mr. Magpie, I thought it was some fantastic American cookie dough company, just a little bit slow today. What a great cookie maker yum they look fantastic. Send a sotrm or two our way, drought, drought and more drought. Glad you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteHi Gigi
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better. You've certainly found the perfect way to ride out the storm - chocolate bars and fairy lights. Who could wish for more! Your storm photos are fabulous - love the reflections! Leigh
Love your stormy pics, Gigi. It sounds like you've made good use of your sick time. Good girl! No just laying about for you.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I'm happy you love Elvis Costello too!
It's the weekend, so get completely rid of that cold!
Oh what I wouldn't give to have that perfect view of the stormy sea. I can see the ocean from my bedroom window, but it is a very sheltered part of the ocean...I have to drive a few hours to see surf like that...but I am OH SO grateful to be within driving distance.
ReplyDeleteThe power went out here this past weekend..I wrapped myself in a blanket and read Neruda by candlelight. Was wonderful...but cold! We didn't get power again until the next morning.
Those bars look divine..can I have a small bite? Just a nibble? Or two?
When I saw your post title and those first two photos I thought maybe a fleet of UFOs were invading the island! LOL.
ReplyDeleteThat looks divine - yummy! x
ReplyDeleteWe are expecting that same sort of weather tonight. I am already laying out the butter and gathering the recipes!!
ReplyDeletewe used to leave right on the beach in duxbury for four years, how i loved the winter there-but the winds and how even the snow felt like blowing sand!
ReplyDeleteA man who bakes?? WOW! Lovely photos!
ReplyDeleteMr. Magpie sounds delightful - who doesn't love chocolate chip cookie bars??
