  2. Is this the garden in Maine that you blogged about last year? I have forgotten the name and I am determined to get there some year during peony blossom time!

    1. Yes it is, Gail! It's Gilsland Farm in Falmouth. It's also the home of the Audubon Society in Maine, so it's a wonderful bird sanctuary with lots of walking trails. Some of the peonies are in the main garden, but they also grow in the woods and in a couple of the fields, mixed with wildflowers and grasses. It's a pretty spectacular sight!

  3. you know what? i can't remember if we have 'talked' about this before, but in my simple abundance book, there is a quote about midsummer's day ... "legend has it that any woman who washes her face in the dew of the Midsummer's Day will grow more lovely with the passing year"... so i am always waiting for the little ants to lick away the sticky stuff that keeps the peony all tucked up tight in a bud, so that i can look forward to patting the dew from the peony on that perfect solstice morn cuz i figure if one is patting with dew from the lovely peony, one is certain of more loveliness! : )
they surely must be direct from heaven!
love your photos so much ... xxo

  7. Hi Gigi,

What a beautiful treat. My favorite of the peonies is the white with the splashes of color in the center.

I hope your summer is beginning well!

  8. Just gorgeous Gigi.........I am always a little envious of anyone who van grow peonies. We have a couple of bushes which were planted in Victorian times and they really struggle in our north facing garden although, ferns and hosts do really well.
Sorry for my absence lately .... my computer finally gave up on me and I am now getting to grips with my new MacBook Pro !!
Have a beautiful weekend Gigi. XXXX

    2. I keep looking and looking for a perfume that smells just like them. No luck so far. I doubt I'll ever find it. And, you know? That's ok. It just makes them more magical.

  10. I love love love your photos so much but wish your name wasn't 'across' them, I feel it spoils their mood and their beauty.

    1. I hear you, Cait! I would much rather post them without my name across them, but I don't feel I have a choice. I sell my photography through Getty Images and other companies, and watermarking it helps to protect it from being stolen. It protects the commercial buyer, Getty, and me. Unfortunately, I have had images stolen in the past, and I learned the hard way that I needed to watermark them. Even watermarking in the corner isn't enough, because people just crop the name off. It's most effective when the name is near a key part of the image. I would prefer to mark it much more subtly. It makes me sad, but it's what pretty much everyone I know who sells their photos online has to do. Thanks so much for your comment!
