Writing

I have been a writer for as long as I can remember and a teacher of writing for two decades. I earned my MFA in Creative Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts.  My poems appear in a wide variety of literary journals, including Mid-American ReviewRiver Styx, and Birmingham Poetry Review, among others.  My poetry chapbook, Learning to Tell Time, was published by the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where it won the Midnight Sun Chapbook Award. I've received several writing awards for fiction, poetry, and essays, and I also write literary criticism, book reviews, and freelance articles for lifestyle magazines.  I was the Jack Kerouac Writer in Residence at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where I now teach creative writing in the online English Program, and I also work one-on-one with writers who need a creative coach and editor for their work.
