Blossoms and Rain

It's worth soaking one's new sneakers in the wet grass to get shots of these flowers after a storm, and with a brand new lens no less.  And then there are the groundhogs, wild turkeys, redwing blackbirds, American bluebirds, goldfinches, swallows, chipmunks, squirrels, frogs, and various other beasties to meet.

All this after a beautiful weekend of friends and family.  Life is good.  Yes, indeed.

This last shot is of just one of the many, many peony beds I've been promising.  I'll share them this week!  A few plants are already blooming, and the rest are coming soon.  What a show, and what a tease I am.

I hope you all had a beautiful weekend.  I have been completely swamped with writing work, but I am making my way slowly around the blog world once more and am looking forward to seeing you soon.

In the meantime, if you are craving a writing exercise or two, fly on over to my writing blog, The Magpie's Pen, where I offer an exercise every Friday.

Wishing you a week of curiosity and adventure . . .

  2. Wonderful after-the-rain moments, Gigi... It's been much the same here, it rained during the weekend, but today the blue skies have returned and the earth renewed...I just love the month of June for all her variety! Glad you're creative work is bubbling along nicely... Do make time for the magic in between it all. ;o) Happy Week, my friend ((HUGS))

  3. A new lens! Always a wonderful treat. Definitely worth celebrating with a walk about capturing your beautiful flowers. In addition to missing lilacs, I don't think I have seen peonies like I did when we lived up North!

  5. I love the way nature becomes more lush, more vibrant after the rain.
You have so beautifully captured that lushness here with these breathtaking shots! (though wild turkeys scare me a bit!)

Peonies will take their time and then wow, this will be a show!

  10. There is something so beautiful in rain drops on flowers. I am especially loving that peony, the 4th one down from the top. You are tempting me to get my macro lens out and go play in the rain.

  12. What a breath of fresh air for me to look at these beautiful flowers. I think 'beautiful' may be an overused word but it fits here! The iris are heaven for me, I have loved them since I saw them growing wild around Monet's house, up lane ways and by the roadside, just casually being inspirational.

    Have a lovely day Gigi,
