Aqua Love

I was recently shuffling through my Flickr favorites,
and this color kept appearing again and again.

It must be love.

What's your current color crush?

NOTE: Mad Mags, whose gorgeous photo I included in this mosaic, pointed out that I hadn't asked her for permission to include her photo in my flickr favorites mosaic.  I feel just terrible about this because I so, so believe in the importance of respecting each other's copyright.  I posted these photos because I love them and admire the photographers who took them, but what was I thinking?  I always ask for permission.  My intention was to celebrate these photographers, so I feel terrible about this.  I have removed the photos from this post, but I've let the links to the photostreams remain, because I hope you will visit the work of these amazing folks.  If you are one of these photographers, please let me know if you would like the link to your photostream removed, too.  I'll happily oblige.

I recently made my own copyright statement on this blog more emphatic because my own photos are showing up on the internet without any link or attribution whatsoever, as I am sure many people's are.  The internet is such a great place to share images and ideas, but it also makes it an increasing challenge to protect copyright--our own as well as others.  Mags has made me realize how easy it is to infringe upon someone else's copyright, even when one is trying to respect it.  I must be much more diligent and responsible about this in future.  Thanks, Mags; I so appreciate your comment.

Thanks, too, blogging friends, for your wonderful comments.  I'm thinking color, color, color right now!  In fact, stay tuned for more color in my next post!
Gigi

  1. You are so on top of things! I just this moment finished reading an article in the NY Times style section that declared turquoise to be the colour of the year!

  2. It must be love indeed!! I love this colour...especially in winter. But right now I'm all about white/cream/off white. I think that's also a winter thing with me. These are really beautiful!

  4. ours is blue as well, but a pale slightly washed out clear winter sky blue, where it feels like everything is so so still and at any minute frost and snow will appear over everything.

  8. Yes! Love turquoise and really had to control myself not to make last year's mosaic on my blog just all turquoise or sea blue :)

  9. Maybe it's the first stirrings of spring. Aqua is a delight - the only blue that works with green without looking like an amateur landscape. A lovely ensemble of images.

  11. Hi Gigi

Happy New Year! I've just had a lovely few minutes catching up with all your fabulous posts that I've missed. Isn't turquoise the loveliest colour - don't know why I don't have any. Maybe this would be a good New Year's resolution - find a home for this gorgeous colour! Leigh

  13. This is a version of my favourite colour and I love it! Currently I love a deep red rose, white branches and some silver mirrored glass twists hanging from them. I was not quite ready to give up the shiny pretty things of the tree so have concocted this as a winter decoration!
Happy New Year to you Gigi!

  17. What a beautiful study in turquoise, Gigi. I love all of them. The beautiful faded hydrangea and the old and distressed door. The bicycle with that tiny little painting on it and that wonderful planter. Gorgeous. XXXX

  19. Thank you for including my copyrighted photo Turquoise Door that I made in Nicaragua. It's one of my favourites. :-) I find it ironic though that in your copyright clause you ask for written permission before duplicating, you didn't extend that same courtesy to me. I would have said yes. I've said yes to others who have wished to show my work on their webpages. It's always nice to be shown that respect. Just a thought to ponder..... :-)

    Mags

P.S. The turquoise stone represents eternal love.

  20. Dear Mags,
I am very, very sorry! I did not intend to infringe upon your copyright. I will remove your photo right away. I unthinkingly created a Flickr Favorites mosaic from my own list of favorite photos on Flickr--including your beautiful shot--and put it here instead of on Flickr. I did make sure I included links to everyone, but of course I should have asked you for permission. What was I thinking? I apologize, especially since I'm usually such a stickler for making sure I don't infringe on anyone's copyright. Thank you for setting me straight. In fact, I'm just going to remove this post.

    All best,
    Gigi

  21. No need to remove the photo, I'm happy to see others enjoying it. My post was merely a reminder to ask first, that's all. :))

  22. an addendum to above: Apology accepted, and no hard feelings!

I think it's great, by the way, that you've posted these links to photos you love.

  24. Oh that's the WORST pit-in-the-stomach feeling, ever! Of COURSE you didn't mean any harm, and gosh, it happens *all* the time. I just realized I didn't credit the flickr shots I have from my Christmas gift list and better remedy that pronto. Thanks for reminding us all to be diligent!

Big hugs and happy new year- hope you are both settling back into life in Lowell with ease and hot chocolate. Thanks for the very appreciated welcome-back comment, btw!

    xo.

  25. You might like to add your name or copyright symbol on top of your images in the future, that way, if people download they have a reference? Anyway, it seems that "All's well that ends well" with no hard feelings. Happy New Year to you and your blog.

  26. Yes, Acornmoon, you are right. I'm actually working on a little logo to use on my photos right now. I've been publishing my writing for years, so that world is familiar, but this whole photography world is new to me, so I am definitely learning as I go!! ; )

  32. Oh my goodness...you are all about the colour and I am all about these amazing photographs!
(I guess, because of the color!)
I am blown away at the creativity found in the computer world...there is always, and will always be something new to see and be amazed by, whether it is through our own lens or someone else's...it's like being a child over and over again, seeing the world anew.
Thank you for sharing this beauty Gigi.
